Ben Sasse proves once again that he’s the smartest guy in the room. In an interview with Steve Hayes of the Dispatch, Senator Sasse discusses the impact of the technological revolution upon American life, the increasing military and technological threat from China, and the “Jackassery” (his term) of so many politicians. Fascinating stuff. Senator Ben Sasse at the Aspen Security Institute

My friend John Siston, recommended this podcast in the 10/22 Musings post, The Edge: The Houston Astros Cheating Scandal. If you are a baseball fan, this is a must listen. The host, Ben Reiter, explains the history of the scandal, its implications, and wrestles throughout with the age old relationship between cheating (as the Astros did) and gaining a competitive edge (like stealing signs, which everybody does). At the GM meetings, Yankees GM, Brian Cashman mentioned that there are several free agents he’d consider, but he knows signing them would generate much anger from loyal Yankees fans because of the Astros’ terrible reputation for cheating (recall the 2017 AL Championship Series). Ya think?
